So in true mesomorph style, I’ve watched my body soften up over the last several months, with my increased distance training. I had been running at least 40 miles a week, teaching 4 spin classes, doing speed work runs, and long rides… and I neglected weight training.
I was thinking about it, and it seems that I go on these extreme distance training kicks when I’m stressed or feeling like my life is out of control. I think that has been something I’ve struggled with off and on over the last couple of years… but now I feel like I’ve leveled out and at thirty, have finally found my center.
So as much as I like endurance sports, I want to see what I can make my body do in terms of composition. What would I look like at 10-12% bodyfat, instead of the 19-20% I’m at now? I’ll never know if I don’t try.
So I’ve decided to embark on the Get Shredded Diet… during the hardest part of the year (all those Christmas goodies!). I’m backing off the cardio and amping up the weights again. I’ll post weekly updates and pictures, for those interested in following along. The picture here is one I took today… so this is where I’m starting. I don’t dislike my body, but I think it could be a lot better.
Let the changes begin!
