Depending on which study you read, the average American consumes 3,000-4,500 calories for Thanksgiving dinner.
That’s insane! Now I certainly am not going to tell everyone to be strict and eat perfectly tomorrow (I won’t be!), but do try to keep things in moderation.
A meal that creates a surplus of 3,500 calories for the day will equal a one pound gain of fat. The average 150 pound adult would have to run 35 miles to burn that off.
I don’t know about you, but I work way too f*&!ing hard to let myself go absolutely berserk during the holidays. Just like you, I will be surrounded by all kinds of delicious goodies tomorrow, and while I will allow myself to indulge, I am not going to binge.
Damage control, people!
It’s also probably a good idea to do a little damage control before dinner by getting in a solid training session. Get up early tomorrow and use your day off as an opportunity to do a long run, take a spin class, hit the weights – whatever your little heart desires. Just do something.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
